The story of how and why OG ØMEGA-3 PLUS was created is a very personal one. It is a story of over 30 years research by Professor Bjarne Østerud of the Arctic University, Tromsø. When confronted by the diagnosis of his and his family’s genetic predisposition to cardio-vascular disease, he was driven to find a solution that not only utilised nature’s finest ingredients but was supported by good science. His inspiration came from closer to home than he could have imagined.

The Professor’s research team studied the traditional diet of the Inuit of the Arctic and why they enjoyed low levels of cardio-vascular disease. Their research revealed the adverse and harmful effects of oxidation on omega-3 oils and ultimately resulted in a unique formulation, which combines North Atlantic Herring (high in omega 3s) with Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil (rich in anti-oxidants to protect the omega-3s) – plus Vitamin D3 and DPA – creating a new higher standard of omega-3 supplement.

Our refinery
Our award-winning refinery is situated on the quayside in Kristiansund. Here the precious and delicate North Atlantic Herring oil is purified and blended with Cold Pressed Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Vitamin D3 and DPA to complete the unique formulation.

The role of Cold Pressed Extra Virgin Olive Oil is essential to our formulation. It is rich in anti-oxidants which protect the wild caught herring oil from oxidising before and after ingestion. Oxidised fatty acids can be harmful to health and wellbeing.
